Here's how I do it. The first thing you'll need is: pomp jig, preferably pre painted, nylon hair or other skirt material, wrapping thread ( I prefer 00 flat wound nylon thread), a razor blade and a pair of scissors. I also prefer to use a vice and a thread bobbin.

I clamp up the jig head in the vise and wrap the thread around the jigs collar making sure to overlap to lock the wraps.

You can see how a bobbin and vise makes this much easier. Now I bunch up the nylon hair and cut it even.

Holding the hair between my thumb and forefinger I evenly push the hair up on the collar then make a couple of tight wraps (the hook end of the collar) to hold it in place.

I then kind of work the hair a bit to make sure it covering the jig collar evenly, then I wrap cleanly up to the jigs head and back down to the hook. Here I'm adding a pinch of flash.

I then repeat back up to the jigs head and back to the hook. Now is the slick part where you whip (tie) off the thread. Simply cut an additional loop of thread and lay it parallel to the collar with the loop facing the jigs head. Wrap over the whipping loop about 5 or 6 turns.

Then I pinch the wrapping thread against the collar to hold it in place and cut it from the bobbin. Insert the thread thru the whipping loop and pull the loop back out from under the thread, thus pulling the wrapping thread under itself.
I then pull the thread tight and cut it close with the razor.

Here's how I measure for the jig hair length and then I cut it clean with a pair of sharp scissors.

You can carefully trim off any stray hairs which extend out over the jigs head with a razor.
I use a couple of coats of el cheapo deluxe superglue to seal the threads

Here's the finished product.

I hopes this helps out anyone who ever wished to save lots of bucks making their own jigs.
