Zinke revokes nontoxic order for federal refuges

In the MN. Outdoor News this week there was an article: "Washington - The new head of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, wasted no time in revokeing a last-minute order by Dan Ashe, former director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which would have implemented a ban on nontoxic shot and fishing tackle for hunting and fishing on USFWS lands and waters. Zinke countered with Secretarial Order 3346, nullifying the prior order that called for phasing out lead ammo and tackle by 2022." The "Good Old Boy, Zinke, did this on his first day on the job. I thought you guys would like to know this. It was talked about extensively a few weeks ago. Good or bad???

Where does lead come from? Out of minerals in the ground?

Die if you must, but die on your home turf with your face to the wind, not in some stinking hellhole 2,000 kilometers away, among people you neither know nor care about.

Lead is natural, yes, but not in an edible/digestible form for wildlife. Which is why lead shot is such a problem for birds, its a source of grit they would never encounter naturally, but causes acute lead poisoning when digested.

That said, the blanket sinker and bullet ban is/was BS, IMO.
