    wire leaders

    the condo is booked for june 15-22 next year. we are going to make up a bunch of leaders before our trip as we went through a LOT on our last trip and it can get quite expensive at $2.50+ each. what kind of wire do you guys suggest?

    Depends on YOUR preference. I personally use 27lb sevenstrand uncoated wire but you wont find it at any tackle stores. J&M sells 30 lb I believe it is American tackle brand but not sure. Either way no larger than 30. If you prefer single wire. I still wouldnt go any larger than 30 lb but thats me. I see alot of people use heavier wire with success just make sure it is uncoated and not silver.

    that's just it. i don't have enough experience to have a preference. that's why i am seeking you guys' advice. thanks for the reply. i doubt any of the tackle stores around here will have wire leader material so i am probably going to have to order it from somewhere.

    I like 30lb surf strand because a single overhand not is all it takes to tie it.My 12 year daughter can cut,tie and package 35 to 40 leaders an hour.Here's the cost break down:300' wire,enough for 150 leaders,19.99 or 13 cents per leader;100pk #10 swivels,8.00 or 8 cents per swivel;#2 black 3x trebel hooks 7.99 for 30 or 27 cents each;3x4" plastic bags to store them three at a time,5.00 per 100 or 5 cents each.Total cost per leader,50 cents..

    [size=12pt]Yep, Surfstrand is a brand and is available at J & M.
    Stik, I would call J & M toll free first and find out about ordering Surfstrand from them at (800) 483-7069.

    Or here are some options on Ebay

    thanks. i was impressed with J&M. they were very helpful and i would rather deal with a local shop than the big box stores. i will give them a call.

    Re: wire leaders

    looking at J&M's website, the smallest surfstrand they have listed is 40#. i will call and ask about the 30#.
