Why It's Important To Be Helpful -
You notice, right away, that fishermen on this site, who frequent the Gulf Shores Pier are helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. There's a refreshing difference between the guys who frequent this site and other boards where guys post about fishing. First, the information here is timely and accurate. Regulars who post here tell it just like it is at that time and that practice has a world of value to the occasional visitor. The tips here are based on YEARS of experience and fishing success.
Here's why I post helpful tips: I like people and I like the area. I WANT more people to visit and have a wonderful experience. When I tell you that, for instance, J & M Tackle is a great place to get your fishing gear, it's because I look at what I'd want to experience if I were coming down to the beach/pier and needed to pick up some equipment and bait. I WANT other fishermen to be successful and I want good businesses to succeed, which is why I recommend that particular business.
I encourage everyone to continue the good work of timely reporting and sharing what works. For those who are relatively new to the site, you'll gain an incredible amount of knowledge by utilizing the SEARCH feature and viewing previous discussions regarding techniques, baits, what's biting when, tackle and various approaches to achieve success on the pier.
This is the good life - Enjoy!

So far, I have only been on the pier watching people fish. I noticed and have spoken highly of those, who are obviously regular pier fishermen, that will drop their rod to help land someone else's fish. Good Stuff!

Crb i watched for 2 months b4 i started fishing and yes everyone is friendly and helpful even on the octi were new comers can be nervous to fish at times. Same can be said for this forum, yes there are some tight lipped folks but theres just as many that share there reports with us. It helped me so much as a newbie and is the reason I share reports as often as i can. Plenty of fish to go around.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
