I always buy eating shrimp at one of the fresh markets.
As many live shrimp as J & M handles and sells, they may have some fresh dead ones, just sayin', don't know.

...then I would suggest Lartigue's or Gulf Shores Seafood.

    +1 what Fin said.

I've been able to find not previously frozen shrimp at the supermarkets, but not recently during the spring shrimp shortage. I just buy a half a dozen of the jumbos and cut them up and they're tougher than the small shrimp---haven't checked recently.

Can't think of the name, but the fresh seafood market next to Ocean's on Ft. Morgan Rd. [Hwy. 180 W. ] is often reliable. And they are excellent for cold boiled, too! Fish ain't the only ones liking good shrimp.

as a side note, for thirty years, I bought minnows and shrimp from Friths. They stand out as a landmark in my memories of visiting Gulf Shores.
