What are you cleaning with
I've been useing Penn Rod and Reel Cleaner after washing off with freshwater .
But is there something better out there .If you are going to fight, fight like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark and brother, it's starting to rain!

A light rinse with the hose at home after every trip.
Once or twice a year they get torn down and re-lubed.
If surf fishing and a reel gets a good splashing or submergence, then I tear it down and re-lube.Ragnar Benson:

Same as Chile except I use soapy water then rinse.

Didn't think about a soapy wash before , thanks that will cut down on buying that Penn Reel Clean but it does do a great job ,

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
