Dylanfisher -- you'll have to tell what you want to catch, because different fish feed in different ways and on different bait.

In that case, you may want to go up in the link bar above and choose "search" and type in "bait" and start checking out threads.
Lots of people recommend live or fresh dead shrimp or squid fished on a carolina rig for the folks who just want to catch "something." Cut bait works, too, although I would cut up something fresh myself over something bought at wally world.
Maybe someone else will chime in for you with something better to offer.

+1 Also, keep the hook sizes and bait sizes smaller (not tiny). Bigger fish eat small baits too. Comparing it to human food, a popcorn shrimp size up to a shrimp size is best, and "nugget size" for a chunk of cut bait, with hook to match. If you get to "chicken strips" size you may catch a larger fish but not before the bait pecking little fish drive you nuts.

A good way for us to all "calibrate" the turbidity numbers will be for people to report their general impression of visibility pretty often (including time of day) at the station. Which brings up...
