Wet week?
Coming down from Indiana Saturday evening to fish for a week.Looks like a lot of rain chances all week . Can't wait to meet some of you and maybe catch my first king and redfish.Deer summer sausage and crackers at the octi probably Monday. Look for the guy with a green wagon full of gear not knowing what he's doing!

I'm from Ky, and usually if it says 60% chance of rain , it's gonna rain all day. But , from my experiences down south , usually their rain doesn't last very long. Then it's sunny again. Is this what heaven is like?? At least I hope that's what happens. Overcast days are sometimes a blessing for fishermen. But my wife wouldn't be very happy with them. Eventhough you can still catch some rays when it's cloudy. I hope she catches them and we don't. Haha

One thing to remember about the weather down here...
If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes and it will change

Use this link to check the NWS forecast for the Gulf Shores area near the pier.
It updates 4 times a day so be aware there may be changes...

Hmmm, don't really look like a Spadefish to me.
My bet is puppy drum aka juvenile Black Drum, or a lingering Sheepie.Ragnar Benson:

Southern Thunder Storms often have a lot of lightning. You do not want to be out in the open then. Head back to shelter at the beginning of the pier and it usually passes quickly. If a rod starts tingling in your hand throw it down and run for cover. I actually had an experience once where I was in a boat and made a cast and instead of the line lying down on the surface of the water it arced up so high the lure was dancing on the surface and elevating. I quickly cranked the motor and left that area full speed.

Haven't been down in 2 years but I'll be there Mon - Wed. Getting the gear ready now.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
