    Well I guess...

we (or at least most of us) have been doing it all wrong...

Looking back now, I guess all those upside-down spinners weren't such googans afterall."

Most people have a dominant hand for fine motor skills and for a lot of people, that's the right hand. And that's why most spinning reels are right-or-left hand retrieve. I still don't understand why anyone would reel upside down instead of just tranfering the reel handle to the right side!

Yes, but that is in the same article with "dulling your hooks for better catches" and "fishing in the nude". April Democrats' day.

I'm not drunk! I'm just not very articulate, and probably a little drunk.

I'm one of those weirdos that can't reel with the left hand on a spinning reel. I have to switch it. I can do almost everything else with either hand (except writing).

Good April Fool's Day article though.

I am left handed and like many, in the midwest at least, learned to fish with a zebco spincast reel so you reeled with your right hand. There was no choice. I have never had to do the hand switch thing. I cast with my left hand and reel with my right.

I am right handed. I use a baitcaster with the right, but also occasionally get a left handed reel (when on sale) to use, but even though I can use both hands with a baitcaster, spinning reels feel weird when used with my right hand.

That's why I'm sure that I'm exclusively right-handed when it comes to fishing - It has to do with learning to fish using a Zebco. I would cast right handed, switch hands, hold the rod with my left hand and reel with my right. Whether using my baitcaster or spinning reel, I do it the exact same way today, with the handle on the right side.
