    Water clarity

Sorry to hear the Pier is down, I know the Pier is a main source for fishing for many of you. Hopefully you guys are finding alternative ways and places to get some fishing in. I from North Alabama, lived down there for many years, I go down many times during the year to fish. Can anybody tell me how the fishing is right now? How is the water clarity, salinity, currents.

    Thanks

Pier's down? Since when? It was closed for several hours during the storm last week, but reopened the next day with minimal damage.
Plenty of reports in the fishing reports section, many with how the water looked and currents that day

I apologize, I saw it was down and the FB page seemed to indicate it still was, my bad. Bottom line i was curious if the water was back to normal due to recent hurricane activity, I know from experience it can take days to a week or more for the water to get back to normal, to drive down from north Alabama and find muddy waters is not good. Thank you for your reply, sounds like the Gulf waters are clean and clear!

I'd say "clean" (not all sea-weedy), but they're not what you'd call "clear" either. The Gulf has definitely fully recovered from the tropical storm, but there's a definite dingy quality. That just naturally comes and goes, so yes, it's what you'd call "normal".

A good bit of the 'non-clearness' in the gulf water at the GSPPier is due to tidally influenced discharges of fresh water from Perdido Bay (6.5 miles to the east) due to runoff from last week's heavy rains from tropical storm "Gordon"...

Hopefully the circumstances will change and allow the water to clear now that we will have a general change in wind direction (to mostly westerly) for a few days...
