Re: VIRUS
I hope this summer you will come back and fish with me and Lisa 1!!!! Although if you are truly retired from the pier I think the only honorable thing to do is to pass down your 706's to the only deserving person.....Lisa 2. :headbang:

Re: VIRUS
I can't remember, but was Bob Toomey the only other person to hook a sail, and did a hurt blue marlin swim by the pier way back when maybe seen by the Nelsons?

A guy named Jerry from Knoxville Tn. hooked a sail a couple years ago but you maybe talking about just the old pier and I can't help you there.

Yes, Bob Toomey (John Dotson's grandson) and I heard he broke it off (or choked).
I believe Tater got to throw on one but it wouldn't feed.
Those two sailfish in 2009 were awesome!
This is the guy hooked up to the first...

It was tailwalking before breaking off (I think a shark, or sharks were on it)

The second one 'window shopped' a bunch of baits before it finally fed.
Seems it broke off or threw the hook soon after that :-(
I can't find the pic of Bob Q & 'Crazy Bob' with the caught sailfish under the sign though :-[
The blue marlin (9'-10') was seen by Tom Allenbach and Jenky Nelson (c.1979).
They said it had a huge gash in its back like a flying gaff tore out and went along the east side of the pier all the way to the beach, turned sharply and went back into deeper water and disappeared.
It got close enough one time that Tom threw a gaff at it (fish was too deep)
and Jenky hit it with a ling jig that 'bounced off'.(RETIRED) mostly.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
