Two new pier addicts born today
My 11 year old son, Carter and I have fished on the pier less than a dozen times since moving down here 5 years ago. 4 of those trips were this week, resulting in a few bait fish and a couple of misses. As we left yesterday afternoon, he was really feeling down. I told him fishing can be like deer hunting - every time you have a bad trip, your that much closer to having a good one. Well, this morning we finally had a good one. We caught our fist King (a small one, but a king nonetheless). Carter hooked what I thought to be a Jack and it gave him a thrill for a few minutes before breaking our line. Then we caught a 40" 23# Bull Red that was the icing on the cake. But, what made the trip most enjoyable was the hospitality and cooperation of the "regulars" on the octi. I was completely caught off guard. The horror stories I'd heard about a rude click of locals who had taken over the pier like pirates was completely unfounded. Those descriptions couldn't have been any further from what we found. Thank you all for contributing to a great morning for me and more importantly for my son - an new pier addict.

I saw that big old bull red---made mine look like a bluegill! Congratulations, and I hope we see the two of you there more often.

Congrats on your catch; we are glad you and your son are now hooked, and look forward to seein’ y’all at the rail.
Sorry to hear that we are viewed as rude pirates by someone. There was a guy that used to be there almost everyday and then suddenly quit coming out. I knew he didn’t like the pirate flag on my cart, but WOW.
If you see this dude again, ask him if “click” means family? We are all family on the pier and if we are pirates, we are friendly pirates.
Thanks for signing up, posting and most of all, fishing with us. :fishing: Welcome aboard. :headbang:

Hawa good ! BIG KING GO BOOM!Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
