    Also check out Allen Hawks reviews . He seems to do a really good job of doing an impartial and thorough review of reels under $100 to higher priced reels .

    I bought a Penn Fierce 3000 this past summer for use on my October trip and it proved to be an excellent choice. I think I paid $79 for it. I deliberated between the 3000 and 4000 models and am glad I went with the 3. It was plenty large enough for what I used it for and not as heavy as the 4000 would have been. If you were going to go after kings or cobia then you might want to go to the 4000 or 5000 size.
