Suggestions for another king rod
So I'm trying to decide on a King rod blank that will allow longer than average cast while using average sized LY's and cigs and also occasionally Size 14 X Raps. I don't know whether I should go with a 9' or 8', K Guides, or wire. I'll be using braid. I would like something that will balance well with a VS150. I've looked at a few blanks and I like the Lamiglass GLB108-1MH, Phenix Black Diamond Hybrid PHD837ML-B, or a Seeker SPS85 but just don't know what configuration I should go with. Thanks in advance.

Ps85 is going to be to heavy. Personally I would look into the pacbay rainforest 1087 built with k guides on a true concept guide layout. Should help with casting distance and have plenty of power to really send the lures out there. The lamiglass blank is another good choice. I would steer clear of the Phoenix due to it being a thick walled blank and they tend to be on the x-fast side which doesn't work real well with natural baits. What it really is going to come down to is personal preference and finding a builder who will put in the time to play with guide layout and test cast to find the optimal balance of guide layout and performance. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

I have a Spinning rod and a Conventional Rod both made for kings (i have a boat for the conventional rod). My spinning setup is a Shimano Spheros 5000FB with a Custom UglyStik. My conventional rod is a Okuma Solterra 15L with a Custom Barrett Fishing rod. Barrett makes some beautiful rods that work really well. You might want to check them out. They make conventional rods, spinning rod, ladder rods, alligator rods, shark rods, surf rods, and a lot more. Barrett Rod Company
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
