Strange and new
I haven't been fishing the pier all that long, but I've seen a few oddities such as the man with the 10/0 electric reel with the battery. Last weekend I saw another---someone had brought a package of raw chicken gizzards. Don't know what they were using them for, but some of them were gone. I've heard of using chicken parts for crab bait, but on the octi?
Has anyone else seen anything strange and wonderful this season?

Different pier. I was fishing Lake Worth pier in south fl a few days back and I walked out to the end with a diamond jig looking for a king or jack and I see a guy floating out a balloon on what I'd consider a small rod for a bait big enough to float out for a king or shark. About 5 mins later he starts really in the balloon and I look over as he's flippin it over the rail and its 3 gotchas each on a metal leader tied to the main line! I had to do a double take just to make sure I really saw what I thought I saw. Blows my mind

I was at the pier about 4 weeks ago and saw a guy bottom fishing with one of those Walmart coated wire bait rigs, 2 oz pyramid weight, and his bait was a gold rattle trap. (Never seen him catch anything.)

I saw a dude once that had a triple mono walmart rig, he had two of the biggest corks I've ever seen on the first clip, and the same on the bottom clip, and on the middle clip he had a MASSIVE circle hook, that thing had to have been like a 24/0, and a pier house cigar minnow hooked right through the middle (I knew it was a pier house cig 'cause he had the open bag next to him rotting in the sun
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.

Not this season, but two years ago in October, some cat was fishing a rod that was 15-18 feet long just past the middle

Just goes to show how much attention the pier staff actually pay to the rules that clearly state no reels larger than 4/0

Yesterday I saw a guy with a rod rigged with the biggest frog-colored Jitterbug I ever saw. I didn't see him use it and he may have had it left over from a trip somewhere else---just looked odd on the pier. Who knows---he may discover the hottest new king bait.

There's a guy I've seen out there a few time with 50w. On 2 different days I saw him trying to snatch Sheepies with it. I try my hardest not to judge people but come on, a bit of an overkill.

This may not be the strangest but it was funny this guy was at the octi on the right bottom fishing with a purple Cinderella 3 ft rod and reel
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
