State Park Pier
On vacation now and have a few young boys that are itching to fish. Have never fished the pier and just wondered what the likelihood of catching something might be? Also would the middle of the day bee too hot (or slow) to expect much action? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Fishing has been poor recently and mid-day is usually the worst part of the day. However, the kids can catch all the fish they want if you get them Sabiki rigs and let them catch LYs, hardtails and crazyfish. Maybe not the greatest sport in the world, but plenty of action for youngsters and you can use pretty much any rod and reel combo. Good luck and have fun.

I dont have a vast amount of fishing the salt or the pier, but did decent off the pier last year. If you are just wanting your kids to have a good time and catch a lot of fish, buy some sabiki rigs and they should be able to catch all the LY, crazyfish, & hardtails they want. My wife had a blast last year just dropping down the reel and pulling it up with 2-3 fish on there. You could always get some cut bait and have them catch hardheads if they are just wanting to catch fish as well. I think the sabiki rig would be the way to go though if they just want to have fun. I used the sabiki to catch bait last year, but we did catch a ton of spadefish off of it as well. These fish are pretty good eating.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
