speck fishing dauphin island wednesday
I fished the golf course last night with live shrimp under a cork in the curve of the golf course and caught a baby red. I was wanting to go Wednesday and be there at 5am and fish the same place. Would it be productive on specks early in the morning or should go somewhere else on the island

Speck fishing was slow last week on DI in the golf course area. My only luck came right at sun up on live shrimp one day.
After that, the beach side near the pier seemed to be the spot the next two days with artificial lures (spoons).

+1 The water in Pelican Bay (the Golf Course) is pretty hot for trout now IMHO.
You will do better on the gulf side (when it is calm) and especially near the east tip which is almost a two mile walk.

That is what I consider the bay. To fish the beach, you need to park by the pier and red school house. Walk south on the gulf side.

Occasionally there may be a few specks at the 'swimming beach' just southwest of the end of the DIPier, but usually you have to walk at least halfway out the spit (about 3/4 mile).
The best speck fishing is often at the east tip of the spit about a mile and 3/4 walk...

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
