    Spanish in the surf?

Do Spanish come in close enough to catch from shore? I've never seen it, don't have extensive experience but years ago I saw plenty of blues caught from the beach east of the pier.

Ibe caught a few at ft Morgan on the very tip. I think its because it drops off so quickly there. But in general it's probably difficult to target them because they don't run the surf like other species do.

I've only seen them close enough to catch from the beach two or three times and I've spent a LOT of time on the beach.

I've fished a lot from the beach as well and never caught any Spanish. However, the link below has a report about them being caught in Little Lagoon. If they made it in the Lagoon, then they had to get within shore distance!

Same here. Seems like that stay outside the second sand bar.

it has been years, but I have caught 3 spanish in Ole River just east of the Ono Island bridge. All from different trips, but at similar times of year (late May).

I've caught them down fort Morgan road the last turn out to the beach before the fort. Lady fish and small Spanish in the surf with gotcha and small yozuri crystal minnows. Also remember black flies tearing me up on that trip too

I have caught a few from the beach over the years when I was using a bubble rig trying to catch lady fish and blues to use as shark bait. That was back in the day when you could still shark fish.

Why can't you shark fish from the beach anymore? I'm renting a house in Ft Morgan the end of May and was planning on kayaking baits out.

You can, as long as you are outside GSP

In OB or GS, you can as long as you don't chum or "create a danger to others" or something like that.

On Fort Morgan you are fine.
