some nice ones

Had a good afternoon on a lake near my house.
They were two to six foot deep and spawning. Should have been done a month ago, so everything is late this year I guess.

Some good eats in that cooler. I caught a handful the other day but could never find the big schools. Cold and muddy run off from tons of rain has really killed my spots.

Traxx...most of those hit a road runner jig head with a kalin tennesee shad curly tail....so yes, they hit lures. Went with a buddy of mine yesterday to prefish for a tournament (bass) and he caught a nice crappie on a 5 inch jerk bait. Three more hit a jig in the same spot.
BTW, they were on the bank, too, and full of eggs, as were most of the bass.

I live on Lay Lake on the Coosa river between Birmingham and Montgomery. Our crappie seem to be running later than normal this year and I blame it on the cool spring and heavy rains. I fish nothing but jigs between 1/64 and 1/8 ounce depending upon the depth and current speed. Generally the lighter the better. I have been averaging 10 to 20 per 2 to 3 hour trip. This week most of the fish are near wood cover and in depths from 4 to 10 feet. Try many different colors and styles as it changes from day to day. I have had a few trips this spring where I limited out (30) in 2 to 3 hours. Our surface water temp is up to 72 degrees now. Some are still with eggs but many are done.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
