Solution to shark infestation?
Somebody cleaned out a nesting hole ;-)
Dozens of Dead Sharks Wash Ashore on Mobile Bay
A mystery on Mobile Bay this morning when close to 100 blacktip sharks washed up on the beach.

Quick! Somebody round up a few putrefying carcasses and anchor them off the pier!
(All it would take is a few concrete blocks and some twine.)People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

The video said someone witnessed the net being used the day before.

No matter your feelingson sharks, to kill that many and leave them to rot is wrong in so many ways, while i'd like to see shark fishing allowed from the pier to help thin the population, i dont believe in the wholesale slaughter of sharks like this, not only wasteful but the removal of too many apex predators is bad for the ecosystem

From what I saw it looked like a recreational (300') gillnet.
(yes they are still legal with a license so it shouldn't be too difficult to trace who it belonged to)
Likely the owner saw it as "too much a bother" to remove them all from the net, so they just abandoned it.
I've seen the same thing happen with catfish in a gillnet.

I find alot of abandoned or forgotten trotlines up here for catfish, some have had rotten fish on them, honestly i dont believe trotlines or gill nets should be allowedfor recreational use, they kill too many fish as either a bycatch or when they get left by iresponsable users
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
