I am in no way an expert of fishing the Gulf Shores pier but I've done tons of snapper fishing in south fl. For mangrove snapper a l would fish around structure (pilings) with a carolina rig. Use the smallest fluorocarbon you can (15-20lb) with a circle hook and as small of a weight as you can. Fresh bait is always the key. Shrimp, small ly's, chucked ly's or if there are any BIG grovers doen there a small pinfish. Snapper are usually a little finicky so use the lightest possible tackle but still strong enough to get them away from the structure.

Mangrove snapper are the only kind of snapper caught from the pier. Red snapper may be caught only once a year if that much, and it definitely never happens when they are in season. No grouper on the pier either. Have to go way offshore for those and Snapper.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
