Snaking kings?
Whats everyone opinion on snaking a king off of another bait? I will do it in a heartbeat, but tend to be selective of who i do it too.. I dont do it to too many tourists, especially younger kids.
The main times i really try to snake a fish are..
If someone says "oh its under me" it sounds like an invite....
If i see one come up on a cork... you already know the deal.. (dont care for corks)
A jerk/know it all/ someone continually causing problems (tangling others, casting way over ppl)
So does it really upset you to be "snaked"? saw a guy a few days ago and could of sworn i saw steam coming out from under his hat...
Just wondering how everyone feels about it
Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Re: Snaking kings?
Could care less. If someone is good enough to snake me, I want to watch him do it to see what he did. I appreciate talent and never get tired of learning new tricks. Now, back in the day, if it was a chick.......
Screw it. Let's ride.

haha I love watching a fired up fish stop circling a live bait to take off and grab a well placed dead bait... its a nice way to save bait alsoGive a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

I always felt that just because you have a bait in the water doesn't mean you have an entitlement to a 10 ft radius around the bait. It's all fair game. Just like if I cast out and plop a cig 10 ft away form a person's cork, regardless if there is a fish there, they have no right to turn and give me some snide remark. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing and on busy days, 10 ft may be the only window I have.

+1 Or 2 feet may be all you have... right on its noseGive a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

oke1:
The only time it bugs me is when some potatohead "bombs" a fish that was about to feed and scares it off.
But I know you wouldn't do that to some kid, or an ole buddy. :headbang:
LOL!

but occasionally an old fart or two :headbang:
and i refuse to bomb a fish, i'd rather stop a bait mid air if i think it might bomb a fish and spook it, heck i just like to see em feed... and if its on me its always a plus.... I rarely keep em anywayGive a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Re: Snaking kings?
I do not think it matters much. The fish doesn't belong to anyone until it bites a hook, and GSSP does not have first shot rules for fishing.
Also, the last few complainers I noticed in relation to having been snaked, when I looked at the snakers, they were not wearing polarized glasses. Chances are, they were just casting and got lucky. Without proper lenses, I highly doubt they even saw the fish or neighboring line.
I think when it comes to us anglers, common courtesy does go a long way, but you folks are welcomed to snake me all day long--especially if it means a fish will get caught. We're out there together enjoying good times and friends. Dont forget what it is all about. Besides, it is my job to keep the sharks busy while you catch the kings.
It's not like there aren't enough kings out there for everyone, and when I see a kid hooked up over a veteran, then to me it was worth it. Let the young ones snake us... they are our future and need the practice. We'd likely hand our rods off anyhow.
Greed has no place on our pier. Team operation, brothers and sisters. If I ever accidently snake anyone, feel free to ask me for the fish--all yours. I'll even hand you the pole if you ask quick enough and let you fight it.
Fish on!

Re: Snaking kings?
All I can say is you can snake off my pier teaser any day (as long as I can see the feed). I just love seeing a king all fired up.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
