First off, this wasn't set up by me but I think it's in our best interest to look at it and sign it if you agree. I haven't seen it on any of the gulf coast forums so I took it upon myself to post it here. We've all seen the decline in numbers of cobia during the Spring run and, in my opinion, something needs to be changed soon or our kids and grand kids may not have the chance to ever catch one.

I think that's the point that matters, what exactly is the proposal? If it's a zero fish limit for recreational fishermen, then I don't believe I could support that, even if the measure is limited to Florida. If the proposal is to prohibit commercial fishing for cobia, I'd support that initiative.

The commercial limit is the same as recreational, 2/person/day.

Here the most recent stock assessment:

Like I said, this isn't my petition but I'd like to see them give them gamefish status.

I'd also like to see a 1 per person per day with a size limit of 40" and a boat limit of 4. Not just for the gulf but also for the Atlantic coast.

I do think that 1 fish per per angler per day is plenty. Four per boat is also plenty.
The spear fishing/commercial concerns me. Can't believe they don't already have "Gamefish" status.
