Shock Leader Suggestions for Surf Set-up
Getting my rigs set-up for surf fishing when we come down in mid-July.
I have a Battle II 6000 reel/9' rod combo, loaded with 17# Trilene XL mono line. I have several different sizes of Seaguar Leader material, 10#, 20#, 30#, 40# and 50#, I am open to suggestions on which one to use for the shock leader on this rig. Will be fishing for whatever bites as far out as I can cast with soaker bait.

A shock leader's primary job is to hold things together during the cast. Rule of thumb for shock leaders is to have 10 pounds of test weight for every ounce of payload you're casting.
Be careful going home, sons wife is from upper Iowa, her grandmother passed today so they will be headed up shortly, hope all that is gone by the time you all get there
