Shimano Thunnus with live liner
Thinking about purchasing a Shimano Thunnus Ci4. Anyone have any "live" experience with the live liner drag feature? Is it worth the money?

Re: Shimano Thunnus with live liner
I'v got 2 and use them on the yak some....
They seem pretty solid... and are every bit as smooth as a stella...the baitrunner feature is nice on a kayak, but in my opinion is 100% worthless on a pier...
BTW the line capacity on them is also a bit small, so both of mine are loaded with braid...Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

I need to bend your ear next time I am down. I am HIGHLY interested in getting into yak fishing. I know I can rent one down there, but didn't know if you would waste your time just going out and paddling around. Or if you really needed to know some places. I thought the baitrunner might be good for kings on the pier though.

We can set up a demo for you, a bunch of different yaks... for you to test out.. we can make something work.
and as far as the baitrunner, i think it is just as easy to open a bail when a fish feeds rather than engaging the baitrunner, i'v seen kings drop baits with that little bit of pressureGive a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Re: Shimano Thunnus with live liner
Ask anyone about having any of the shimano baitrunners cleaned and you'll know why I'm not a huge fan. Lots of little parts in there but I still do like mine. I've got one of the big baitrunners but mainly just use it surf fishing (since its kind of heavy), I've got mine with 2 spools one with braid, one mono with braid backing (mainly for catching sharks.)

Educate me a little bit if you will. What are good turbidity numbers? If you can check those stats and determine what the water looks like before you go, that would be VERY helpful!
