Sabiki Brigade?
I've been fishing the pier for 40 years, usually during the month of March only. I also read the forum regularly with interest to read what all my friends have been posting, but...
The only thing I've been unclear about is the "Sabiki Brigade". I've used Sabiki rigs to catch bait before but I'm unsure what's being done now, since most of the comments seem to be negative.
Can someone fill me in on exactly what's being referred to as the "Sabiki Brigade"? Thanks for the help guys...

It usually refers to those of Asian decent who use the large sabikis and bring the whole family to fill coolers with keychain Spanish or whatever is biting at the time that is good to eat rather than just using the sabikis for bait purposes. Not meaning that in any negative way, just stating the facts.

The sabiki brigade is usually Asian people that use the heavy duty sabikis to catch all sorts of fish. The reason for the negative comments is because they keep excessive amounts of fish. Here is a discussion from last month: http://www.gulfshorespierfishing.com...-brigade-6772/

So if they are keeping over the creel limit fish, why are they not being fined for each one over the limit?

First off, the man asked a simple direct question that deserves a direct answer.
IMHO some of these responses border on racism which will NOT be tolerated on this forum!
This issue centers on people (of all races, nationalities, states, etc.) who are likely commercially fishing from the pier and at the very least are ignorant and/or scaflaws besides being rude, inconsiderate, littering gamehogs.
If somebody wants to keep every pinfish, skipjack and hardtail (or other unregulated fish) they can catch (or beg) to feed themselves and their family or friends that is their business as far as I'm concerned.
I may find it humerous (even annoying) at times, but in no way is it a reflection on the caliber of people they are or reason to slur them.
But it 'crosses the line' when someone takes over the limit (deliberate or not) or keeps fish just so they can go sell them illegally.
That is why I try to be descretionary in giving away fish, and it is illegal to sell fish caught recreationally even if you have a commercial license.
IF you witness activity contrary to the rules of the pier, report it at once to the pierhouse @ (251)967-FISH(3474) or gulfpier.statepark@dcnr.alabama.gov
And IF you witness illegal activity report it at once to AL Marine Resources @ 251-968-7576

My wife and I were checking out the pier down in St. Pete Florida is was in one of the state parks. There was one of those guys coming off the pier with a 5 gallon bucket.
The game warden was waiting for him and asked if he could see his catch. The warden dumped the fish out and lined them all up in 2 rows. He started counting and when he got to the second row every time he counted a fish his voice got louder. At the end he was shouting 16, 17 under size fish. Then he said "You're lucky it was me that caught you and not one of the other guys I work with because you would be going to jail right now." I think they were Mangrove Snapper. Anyway we went on back to the car, but I am sure there was some sort of fine and restitution paid there.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
