Rod and reel combo....
Hi,
I'm from northern Wisconsin and will be visiting Gulf Shores, AL around the end of March. I want to try surf, pier fishing and purchased a Penn 650SSm and a St. Croix Triumph TSRS90M2 rod....good set up or not? Thanks!

Re: Rod and reel combo....
I'd say it'll work. 1st stop when you get to town should be J&M Tackle in Orange Beach. Their staff will help you figure out what you need rigging and bait wise. Keep your eye on the reports board last couple of weeks before you come so you have some idea of what's biting.
Screw it. Let's ride.

Re: Rod and reel combo....
never seen the rod, but i have the 650 penn, great reel, very smooth, the rod sounds like a 9' medium action, if so then id say it should work
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.

Re: Rod and reel combo....
Can I use mono or would you suggest braided line with my setup? What pound would you recommend?

Couldn't find the popcorn button so I settled for the dancing bananna.
