Restaurants
This may break some message board rules because it doesn't involve fishing as much as it does eating fish. For those of us who come up empty on fishing trips, can some of the locals direct us to restaurants you like? I have a feeling that most places there serve up Asian fish and shellfish because of the cost of Gulf seafood.
So where do you go? And as far as I'm concerned, the more "off the beaten path," the better. thanks

I like Doc's Seafood or Desoto's. If you are looking to eat great pizza one night I would suggest Lillian's near the Alabama/Florida line.

I'm not a local but we have eaten just about everywhere in GS and OB. Shrimp Basket, Desostos and Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores are great. Cosmos, Cobalt, Ginny Lane at the Wharf, and Flippers in Orange Beach. Restaurants are obligated to disclose the country of origin of fish and shellfish if you ask. Avoid swai and pangus(Asian catfish) and whitefish. Lobster, crab legs and salmon may be of US origin but its not local and of course beware the guys on the side of 59 North selling frozen shrimp from the back of a pickup truck.

Here's a link to a past question about where to eat in the area, lots of replies:

Hope this helps!
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
