Which reel would you choose?
I'm torn between a Penn 550ssg and a Penn 5000 Battle. Would be using the reel mainly for casting plugs. The Penn 550ssg is lighter and holds more line compared to the Battle, from what I have read online. Just seems everyone here are big Battle supporters. Just wondering if anyone had any input about the Penn 550ssg.

There is a used Slammer 560 Live Liner auction on Ebay and a few new ones too.
I would get one of the 5000 Battles the reel_doc had for sale if he has any left.

If I'm thinking about the right reel, the ssg models from penn are garbage. Bail arm issues and screw threads in the graphite become loose and crucial parts of the reel start to fall off. I might have bought a bad one, but aside from the fierce I use for flounder, I like a metal reel. I'd pay extra and get a spinfisher over a battle.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
