Red Tide Sites LInk
Not sure if anyone posted this link:
Harmful Algal Blooms Observing System - HABSOS
Things look kinda gloomy: red tide is now in MS Sound, lower parts of the Bay, possibly as far north as Fairhope.Carl

AL-MRD has been responding to fish kills all over the place. They are staying quite busy.
Given the warm weather and south winds, I have a bad feeling that this is going to get worse before it gets better.Carl

It just seems 'odd' to me, MR and ADEM are doing all this testing and for the most part local news media are not reporting a thing about it.
The notable exception was Ben Raines piece in the Mobile Register last week...
Red tide invades Alabama waters, shuts down fall oyster harvest | AL.com
"It is likely the worst red tide outbreak off Alabama in more than a decade."

MRD & ADEM (mainly) do the collecting, Health Department does the testing.
Its not very newsworthy 'cause it aint tourist season. IMO.Carl

If a shark washed up on the beach because of the red tide the news will have live helicopter feeds 24/7. If there isn't a shark involved they aren't covering it!

This is my first year living on the Gulf Coast and first time experiencing Red Tide... I know you guys are saying this year is the worst in a long time but is this something to expect every year? on a much smaller scale ?

I've been here since 97, this the first bad one I remember. I remember a much smaller event but like nothing like this.
So Historically it has not been a yearly event. But with these screwy weather patterns who knows.Carl

Bay isn't dying but pogies and shad are. To give the media credit they have covered it some. But we haven't had massive fish kills or dolphins and manatees washing up like they did in Florida years back. So it's not making headlines daily.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
