Proposed Kid's Fishing Day on the GSPPier
Shawna and some of the other folks on Facebook page (GS Pier Rats) have approached Lamar about having a 'Kid's Fishing Day' on the pier "the end of September or early October."
If you'd like to help (and you don't do FB) you can drop a line in this thread...
More details will be coming, but so far the response has been quite good!

If everything goes as planned, I will be bringing a small herd of kids, most have never been fishing, some have never seen a fish in person other than fried catfish... I hope to be able to show them and any other kids that may need assistance a good time.. I'll bring a handful of extra rods. Is there any specifics we need to know about this day?

A few updates for y'all:1) Volunteer Anglers will be cut off at 40 (as in volunteer numbers, not age)
2) All pier fees for volunteers & participants will be waived. And special wristbands will be handed out.
3) If any one has a business or employee who might want to sponsor the event please feel free to contact me directly and I will get you the information you need.
We will need volunteers to filet catches for the kids to take home if wanted.
Thank you all again for everything. There are so great things inshore for the event.
Hello Anglers. If i have shirts made that has the Salty kids logo on the front pocket area & staff on back would you purchase them for $12-15(depends sizes) to make it easier for kids to know who is there to help etc.
I'd have them color coded by what you'd be doing i.e.
blue shirts = teach fishing
red shirts = filleters, etc
Please comment below yes or no and if yes what size you need and what position you'd like to do i.e. teach fishing, filleting, show how to rig the lines, etc.
Volunteer positions are filling up fast. So if you'd like to help go to the facebook page to sign in.
or do it below IF you don't do facebook ;-)
Just mention that (below) and how you would like to help...
or email Shawna @ saltykidz2019@gmail.com
Any way, we hope to see you there!

Hello From Salty Kidz
I am the Founder/President of Salty Kidz. Below is a little bit about SK.
The mission of Salty Kidz is to organize, encourage, and educate youth on fishing skills, conservation, the environmental impact of fishing and good stewardship.
SK supports and promotes the educational process through peer directed and operated services, advocacy, and participation in public fishing events and good stewardship opportunities.
Salty Kids does not discriminate against anyone regardless of age, disability, race, color, religious creed, national origin, citizenship, sex and sexual orientation or gender identity.
We currently have 32 of 40 angler spots filled. We are placing orders for Staff t-shirts 9/7/19 and are $15 each and all money needs to be in by 9/6/19.
This even tis going to be HUGE. The International Game Fish Association is partnering with us and will be flying a representative in to help at the event.
If you are interested please message me or Pier#r. Also, if you can't help but want to sponsor or donate to the event please contact em directly.
Blessings

Hey Shawna,
Whenever I click on the link below for more info, it says the page no longer exists or has moved. It happens when I am looking from Facebook as well. Is there a different link I should be following to register my kids? Thanks!

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
