Proposal to study pompano and mackerel
This lady will be at the next meeting of the Alabama Coastal Fisherman's Association (ACFA) on Thursday evening @ 7pm in Mobile.
Meetings | ACFA
I posted this here because of the huge role these two fisheries playfor us and in case any of you are interested in attending or participating in the study (should it be funded).
She seemed VERY interested in the idea of our pier fishing oriented forum and incorporating some of our reports into her research.
My name is Meagan Schrandt and I am a PhD student working with Dr. Sean Powers from the University of South Alabama, based out of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. We are working on submitting a grant proposal to study two coastal pelagic fish species that constitute important beach and pier fisheries – Florida pompano and Spanish mackerel. We believe that the projects’ interests are well aligned with the Alabama Coastal Fisherman’s Association, and if willing, we’d like to request a letter of support from the ACFA.
Thanks,
Meagan Schrandt

Dr. Powers was on my Thesis Committee.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
