proper rod?
What's a good rod to match with a Penn battle 6000 for pier fishing?an overall rod?I already have a setup for Spanish,it's a 4000. Johns custom rods at J&m are 145.

You just answered your own question. There isn't a better deal on a rack rod on the island, or within 50 miles as a matter of fact.

Re: proper rod?
I purchased a Battle 6000 from J&M a few months back. John set me up with an Okuma 9" surf rod, but I do alot of surf fishing as well. The length has come in handy a couple of windy days at the pier. I also needed a 2 piece as I go between Memphis and OBA alot. It was 80 or 90 bucks. If you are going to spend more than that (St Croix Mojo Surf etc...) then spend your 145 on Johns rods as I am sure they are better!

OPP is spot on. You wont find a better rod for the price as out Pier Rods. I have two of them now and they are feesh killers. They match the BATTLE 6K perfectly....You wont regret the investment
