PowerPro braid on sale at Cabelas/Bass Pro Shop
Just in case anybody is looking for some decent braid, Cabelas/Bass Pro Shop has 100-300 yard spools of PowerPro on sale for 50% off, starting today (Friday, 6/14/19). Assortment varies by store location. I had it in a previous post that it was Academy, but I looked at the flyer again and it is Cabelas/Bass Pro Shop.

Would you put braid on a Penn Slammer 3 6500?

I haven't tried braid on my larger reels. I guess it's just personal preference, but I like mono on my larger reels because I want some stretch for when bigger fish hit and I don't have to worry about line twist as much. Also, if I get spooled, replacing mono is a lot cheaper. I just put braid on my new Penn SSVI 3500 to help me feel the pickup on my flounder rod. I just bought one of those line spoolers that spins to eliminate line twist for the braid, and used it to spool the 3500 and also spooled a Penn 850SS with mono. The spooler may just be a gimmick, but it was only about $23 delivered, so what the heck. Whether or not it actually works, I won't know until next time I use the reel.

IF it is more convenient, as an Academy employee, I would say that the store "should" as defined by Mr Webster in his dictionary "Ought to be not necessarily will be" price match that item Plus 5% more. Don't quote me but that is the way the Policy reads and BassPro/ Cabella's is included in the "select online stores list"....Just saying
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
