Since live bait around the pier has been tough to find lately, would pinfish work well out there for kings and reds? I can get plenty if them from a friend if mine's pier in the Little Lagoon.

Back in the dark ages when I was running charters, I caught an awful lot of different fish using pinfish and pigfish for bait---kings, cobia, redfish, reef fish and even one wahoo out on the Trysler Grounds when the water was pretty. They're tough little devils and keep good in a live well. They may not be the best bait, but they should work O.K. at the pier, especially for reds when they come through.
Forgot---I caught one tarpon with a pinfish.
Pinfish is a universal bait...Works inshore/offshore..dead/alive..jetty/surf/pier...As cutbait it will stay on the hook better than most other cutbaits.
A live, anal hooked Pinfish tossed over the bar seems to be a good magnet for small to medium sharks.
They really seem to be especially attractive to the Atlantic Sharpnose over at DI.
thanks for the info guys, I'm learning something new everyday. I'll keep throwin' some lines.
