Pier fishing rod/reel.
My daughter and son in law recently moved north of Gulf Shores. Can anyone recommend where they can purchase a decent rod & real combo for pier fishing. Some place that can start them off "right". I've used Half Hitch Tackle in Panama City Beach before ( I fish the pier there) but am not familiar with the Gulf Shores area. Thanks in advance for any info!

J & M Tackle in Orange Beach by the big blue water tower. The store is full of staff that know their business and won't sell you crap you don't need.

What Travis said. Talk to J&M, they have rods and reels at good price points.
That said, a good starting point is a 7' medium rod with a 25/35/4500 series reel spinning combo with 10 or 12# line and a 7-8' Medium heavy rod with a 6500 series reel and 14# line. A rod for bait too.Carl

J & M Tackle in Orange Beach on Canal Road by the big blue water tower!!!
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
