Pier camera
I guess that the pier camera is a dear issue now. I have not heard any comments about it in a while.
Anyone know anything about it ?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Pier camera
Bill,
I've tried using the pier cam for over a year w/o any success. Like most things the state does, it takes forever! I wonder if they're even cleaning the pier this year? I only saw that once last year. Slow, slow, slow....

Re: Pier camera
[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt]The pier cam is privately owned and operated, nothing to do with the state. We tracked down the owner and he offered to sell it to us for $3500.00 plus a monthly fee for hosting.
If someone wants to pursue it, I will try to find the info for you.
I haven’t been out to the pier much this winter, but when I was there, the pier looked good and they were rolling water-seal on the decks. I wouldn’t be too hard on the folks actually working at the pier, they have to get things approved by the state guberment..

Re: Pier camera
Fin,
Thanks for the update on the camera.
I do realize the men and woeman working the pier do the best they can but only with the funding the state allows. Therein lies the problem. At least we got them to wash the guts and bird dropings off the rail last year! And I know most of us rats pick up line hooks other garbage when we're there. They're really great folks and always offer to help if in need. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to fault them if sounded like it. Just like when lights burn out. How long do we wait for a replacement? You know what I mean...

Re: Pier camera
Thanks Finn, on the update on the camera, too bad that I can't pay for the camera myself.
I think that this is THE best kept pier on the Gulf.

Re: Pier camera
Might be worth attempting to raise the money with a Kickstarter project at kickstarter.com i know some people using it to fund projects might be doable! just a thought it allows people to donate small sums of money to help fund projects

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
