Penn Z Series Returns!
Penn is bringing back the Z Series!
There are 2 sizes. There is the 704z and the 706z. I was thinking about the 706 bail-less. Does anyone have any opinion on the return of the Z Series or the 706z bail-less as a pier/king rod?

I have fished Penn's for years and now have two 714Z'z that are out of commission because I cannot find parts. Someone was telling me yesterday that Penn now has a lifetime replacement policy if something breaks. I am somewhat skeptical about the accuracy of that statement. I took a Daiwa back to Marks Outdoors in B'ham about 3 years ago that was shot. It was supposed to have a life time warranty. 3 months later Marks notified me that Daiwa had quit honoring that lifetime warranty so I was screwed. I have not bought a Daiwa since.

Personally, I will not buy any Penn due to the fact they moved or sold out to China!

The new 704's and 706's are made in usa and are almost exactly like the old ones, parts will interchange,.

Good report stoc! I wonder when the long casts will come out. Wish we could be on the pier at daylight tomorrow!

On another fishing forum, somebody said much the same, to which a Penn Rep replied.
Good morning..........Rest assured that not all of our products are made overseas.
There are quite a number of reels still made here in the Philadelphia plant.....just about 50 feet away from where I work! This would include spinning, conventional and International reels which are designed in our engineering department and manufactured in our assembly department.Penn has also been very aggressive over the last few years with new product every year (which would include new lever drag reels due out by the end of the year) and a customer service, repair and parts department second to none in the industry. If you do have any concerns about the reels you've purchased, please feel free to contact me. I'll be happy to help you in any manner that I can.
Take care....Tom

Bought a NIB 9500SS for surf fishing not too long ago, and have a bid on a 5500SS that I hope to use for Specks and such.
Keeping an eye out for a 113HLW with stainless gears/gear sleeve.
I love Penn reels.Ragnar Benson:

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
