Re: Penn Sargus
I miss typed the price, it is original 119.99 with 50% off that. So 60 bucks plus Tax , and by reading the reviews I don't think its that bad of a deal.

Re: Penn Sargus
They are great reels. I own two of the 8000 models. They are heavy, but heavy duty. I just put in ht-100 drags and they are even better.

I picked up a Penn Battle 8000 a few months ago, love it, and have to agree with Wilson. I am surprised how few are out there because the drag is as good as they come. It has become my main Cobe reel.

Re: Penn Sargus
Best way to describe a Sargus is it is more of a reel you use to horse in a fish. A lot of the other reels require some finessing. Good investment if you don't like playing around with your fish. Decent cranking power.
Was too much torque for me--I love finessing a fish a little more. GREAT reel for the $$$ though--no complaints here.

Re: Penn Sargus
I've used a 4000 for spanish and slot reds for the past 4 years. Although a bit heavy and short on frills. It is a good reel. No complaints. Check your prices online before jumping.

I seen fish killed in Melbourne in the early 70's, we were snagging some monster fish out of the ICWW around Merrit Island. loved the fishing opportunity's as a kid there, fresh and salt water both...
