Penn Battle vs Penn Spinfisher V

What is the primary difference between the Penn Battle II series and the Penn Spinfisher V The Spinisher Vseries looks more like the discontinued SS series of yesteryear.

    Battle:
    PENN® Battle® II Spinning | PENN®

    SSV:
    PENN® Spinfisher® V Spinning | PENN®

The Spinfisher V has a sealed drag system and a solid spool, the Battle (and the other lines) doesn't.

IMHO this is a superior system that helps keep sand and water out of the reel.
I have never figured out why drilling holes in a perfectly good reel makes it "better".
The original Battle and Fierce were solid spools as well and had one more bearing.
So in my mind, the IIs are inferior to the original designs.

If you’re going to be in the surf choose the Spinfisher. It has a sealed gear box as well. I had a Battle that got splashed in the surf and locked up from water getting to the gears.

I have both and have used them regulatory surf fishing in all types of weather too , Both do just fine as look as your not putting them under water , If your in the Surf and a wave is about to break just hold it up high enough to not get soaked , if it did wash out in fresh water as soon as possible and relube . For the money it's hard to beat the Battle reels .
If you are going to fight, fight like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark and brother, it's starting to rain!

I have both reels. My Battle II's are smoother, but I prefer the sealed Spinfisher V in the surf.
