That's a LOT of reel Mike!
I'd suggest something 8'-9' medium heavy.
J&M should have some on the rack rods that would do nicely.
You probably want a 2 piece for easier transport though.
Something like an Ugly StickBWS1100 (9 foot)

Well trying not get to many rods and reels that i cant use else wear. There is talk of maybe going to Palm Spring and fishing for Christmas this year. My boss has 2 family members that live down that way and own a medium size boat. I as of yesterday the Girlfriend and myself are talking about maybe taking a honey moon in Cabo or La Paz.
Hey David will be down the 14th of Jun 2014. If your not busy would like to spend couple hrs on Sunday or Monday in the morning to lined out again on fishing tactics (meaning I pay you). Also if remember right if have some boat guides that you work with. Would like to get a reference if you have any. The Girlfriend wants to go catch some Red Snapper (I keep telling her she has a pink one). I would like to get after something a little bigger 25-60 fish.
See you in Jun.
Mike

Yes a 2 piece would be ideal I looked at that rod and like it a lot how would they do in the surf or beach? I thinking a little short but do able. Also really like a cork handle haven't seen anything like in my searches. I'm fully aware that not a true surf reel. But for no more than im going to be doing I'll just have clean it a little more often.

As you've seen, most of my rods for pier fishing are 6'6" to 8'
I like to go a little longer for surf and have some 9' up to 12' but I really don't like using heavy rods except when targeting bull reds and sharks (which I rarely do).(RETIRED) mostly.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
