    Penn 705?

Are the penn 705's the same as 704's except for us normal people who reel with our right hand? Also what do you think a fair price for a 705 would be on ebay for one in fair condition. Also I have seen where people have had there 704's painted do most people do this or do they carry them somewhere to have them refurbished. Post any comments about this reel to help me make my mind up on buying one. Thanks for any help

the only good oldschool penn series in my opinion are the 706s and 710s. 705s are just ones they made left handed im pretty sure they are not as strong as the 706s or 704s heck the 706 is better than the 704 could ever be. But i guess thats because im with the NORMAL people who reel with the left hand. so i would not even think about gettin a 705 just look at a battle, fierce or one of the penn spinfishers you can make right handed.

I have some of the newer reels that can switch I was just looking for one for the old school feel of it I guess you would say. I play golf both hands but for whatever reason I just can't do the fishing but I may have to try in order to find me one . Funny thing about my reels most of the time my good ones sit on my cart and I use my walmart Berkeley reel. I want to catch a king this year so I will use my penn more to try and land one. I just like he look of the old green penns and that is main reason I want one.

i dont know much about 711 but i know a guy that fishes a 710 full of 10 pound test for kings so 710 are real good. they are a lot smaller though. A 7500 ss is more than enough to land kings u can catch cobia with it too

The 7500ss you have is an amazing king reel with a smooth drag. Pack it with 300 yards of 30lb braid as backing for capacity and top it off the rest of the way with 15lb mono and you're set for most anything that swims by.

I have a 705Z, never used it for kings. I want to make it bailess because when I open te bail the little piece of metal that locks the bail back fails to engage, just stays where it's at. Anyone have this problem too? Feel your pain bks37seahawk, my dad is a leftie and that's all I've ever fished with.

The 704 and 706 are the same reels with the exception of the rotor and spool size and of course the manual bail. You could take a 705 and put a 706 spool and rotor on it and have a 707. The only problem with the 705/707 is that they are NOT a true left handed reel. The rotor turns the same direction as the 706 making the 707 a knuckle buster at times. If you want to try a 705 I probably have one around here in the stock pile and you're welcome to use it to see if you want one.
