It's official... Penn is in the process of bringing back the 704/706z... This is from their Facebook page...
Progress continues at the factory....704/706Z are being brought back due to popular demand. No changes will be made to the design of the reels....we want to have complete consistency between new and old reels so that parts interchange. More details to follow next week.

Classic marketing technique and often very successful. They are counting on customers to become overwhelmed with nostalgia for the "good ole days."
Although, I suppose a certain percentage will buy them just because they like the way they fish.
Is the prduction going to include a left hand model ???

yep mine was 99.00 from gulf breeze tackle & spooled with line ....still like the day I bought it ....never really used it ....threw it a couple times is all :violent :boohoo:

Supposedly the MSRP on them will be $299.. They are going to be the exact same reel, so that parts from old and new are interchangeable.. If they aren't changing a single thing, $299 is a little steep IMO and I won't really be rushing to get one. Although it is cheaper than a VS or Zee that's for sure.

More info on the re-release of the Z series.....same design and same parts as they were made when we stopped production years back.
To be clear we are only building 2 models 704Z (with bail) 706Z (bail-less), retail pricing will be $200 for both reels.
Cosmetics will be black and gold as pictured, but we are considering adding these reels to the PENN Custom Shop.
We are not going to commit to a hard delivery date at this point but we will deliver them before the end of the year.
Can't wait!!! :banana:

Ask for 'SOURCES'!
The $200 quote comes directly from Penn reels FB page, so I would take that as a reliable source' :headbang:
