    Old Mitchell reels

Any comments about this reel . I am looking on ebay at a few but they are hard to come by for a lefty did find some but would like people's opinion about them before I bid. What would be the best size to look for for the pier? Also what do you guys think a good price is for what ever size you talk about. Thanks for any comments

My primary reel for kings is a 303 with upgraded gears, drag washers, and a manual pick up. I paid about 35-40 for the stock reel on eBay in good condition.

Personally my favorite king reel is a penn 706z but they can be pricey you can either buy a brand new one for 200 which is wut i did or you can look on ebay for one but it'll probably be in the 125-175 rang i wouldn't pay any more than that.

Unless your a diehard old school mitchell person, there are several modern day reels in the 50 to $75 that will hold 300yds of 15 or 20lb mono. Why do you want a Mitchell, just wondering??
FinChaser, Pier#r and Rich1 like this.

705s are for us lefties . Have landed a number of large fish using mine . You should should be able to pick one up for well under a $100 . the left handed models are usually much less than the even numbered reels .

He did say he was a leftie, so he might be wanting a true lefthanded bail-less reel.

705's are a bad mistake of a reel. The crosswind eccentric arm can and will separate from the main gear and wedge itself between the main gear, thus locking up the reel. If you've landed a lot of fish with yours, consider yourself fortunate, but be advised that you're fishing with a time bomb.

I like the looks of them john really only reason. I would love to have a 706 but can't bring myself to pay the price they bring.
