ok thought of another question. Tides?
Looking at the tidal forecast for October and see that the days i will be fishing Oct. 9 -12 will have high tides early in the a.m. and low around mid afternoon, It appears (if i'm reading it right) that this will be the strongest tides of the month. How will this affect the fishing and the hours i should be going?

Early and late will likely be best for catching.
Or when they bite ;-) lol
Seriously, the wind and wave conditions will likely have just as much (or even more) affect on the fish around the pier than the tide level but they are difficult to predict even a few days ahesd of time.(RETIRED) mostly.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
