Thread: October Pompano

Are the pompano still around in early October, and if so what would be the best bait or lures? Thanks

We have fished for pompano in October for many years. Some years get a few, some years none, some years we limit out several days in a row, so lt is just like farming or shooting dice. Fresh, never frozen shrimp, peeled, 1/2 in little pieces, #2 kahle or #1 circle hook. Weight depends on current. I make double drop rigs while sitting on the Beach with 10 lb floor. A few colors of fishbite ribbons won't hurt a lick, just use 1/2" pcs. Look at Bama Beach Bum vids on YouTube or fb. Good luck! Btw, whiting can be awesome in Oct, and right good eating.
