October Fishing
Hey, guys. It looks like I will be heading back down for a visit late October. I had such a great time last September (fished the pier every day) meeting some of you and hauling in loads of Spanish and my first Redfish. Thank you to Pier #r for showing me how to clean a Spanish ! So, what is expected to be biting at that time? I have been going through old reports, and see bull reds mentioned. What about flounder ? Kings? Anyway, looking forward to being back !

Fantastic time of the year to fish. Last year that time we tore up the slot rods. I can't tell you where on the pier because it's in a location where there aren't any fish. We caught a few flounder in that mix as well.
In November it is grocery time, tons of big croakers, whiting, and a fair number of puppy drums. Not sure if the whiting can show up in Oct or not, some of the pros around here can chime in.
We reserved a place a cabin at the park for late October for a few days. By far, favorite time of the year to fish.

I came down last year in October after the storm and I loaded up on big spanish, reds, a few flounder and some mangrove snapper.

last year the first few weeks seemed slow, but then the freezer got full the last 2 weeks....but you never know when the hot week or 2 will be....might be the whole month this year, debating whether to bring the small freezer, last year I didn't need it the condo one was just big enough for the fish caught....I wanted more, but oh well....I guess better to have and NOT need then to need and not have....not sure if there will be room this trip, not sure if the old van is coming or not....going to be tight if not

Bill, when are you you going to be down this year? I'm trying for the 2nd week of October but might be the 3rd week due to work. I need some ocean time.

I have the month of October again....I am liking be referred to as a month-er
our 35th wedding anniversary and the sister in-law and family are coming again .....this time staying within walking distance to the pier....I got lucky getting that ( with the shrimp festival going on), most don't offer monthly rates till after it.
I think it's 2 buildings east of sea and suds , not the most plush ,but on the beach and cheaper, good for the bride and I, might be tighter when the family comes.....Oh well plenty of room on the pier, after that shower, fish vac.sealed and in the freezer, dinner and bed....all to do it again .....day after dayBill..............

Deer, turkey, dove, goose (fill in the blank) hunting is for people who don't know how to fish year round ;-) LOL
October is my second most favoritest month to pier fish and a great time to sojourn.
That's how I met my ole buddy Eldon from Festus, MO and many others.
Earl comes to mind and of course Chris (aka cooler rider).(RETIRED) mostly.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
