Cruise the posts, lots of information already posted.
But the short of it is: use a light Carolina rig on medium spinning tackle: 1/4-1 oz egg sinker, swivel and a short leader with a #4 hook. Use fresh dead shrimp chunk or FishBites for bait and you can usually catch all the whiting you can stand to clean. Plus a random pompano or redfish. Maybe a flounder.
Throw spoons or bubble rigs and you might get some bluefish or Spanish macs.
Chunk a small crab, big finger mullet or chunk of mullet out on a bigger rod and you might hook a bull red.Carl

Welcome F102
How can we help you?
Summers are long and hot here, and there are plenty of options and 'targets of opportunity' ;-)
Perhaps you could narrow the question?
Ladyfish are a common species and FUN to catch from shore by different methods in a variety of conditions.(RETIRED) mostly.

The best thing you could possibly do is hire Pier#r for a day or half day. As far as I am concerned, he doesn't charge near what he's worth. You will learn a lot and make a good, new friend.

I love it when a newbie puts up a post. Because (this) newbie (ME) gets a refresher course. That way I don't have to look like I'm not paying attention to what y'all say. There's just to much to take in and I need repetition. Thank you for the questions and answers.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
