new reel advice
I am looking for a new conventional reel for pier fishing, it will need to be able to do double duty for deep sea bottom fishing, I would prefer an all metal reel that could be rebuilt for a lifetime of use, but one that wouldnt break the bank, any suggestions?

IMHO the two are hardly compatable.
A true bottom fishing reel would be the size of a 4/0 (or better) which is not feasible to use (or allowed) on the pier.
If you're willing to go a little lighter, the Shimano Calcutta 700 or Torium 500 may suite you as well as the Ambassadeur 10000
Hope this helps!

I have a Calcutta 700 I'd be willing to part with. Send me a PM if interested

thanks for the advice!
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
