Lures you might want to try for spanish are got-cha plugs,yo zuris, rapala x raps, or looney jigs. Keep a sabiki rig handy because sometimes spanish will eat those up. I would also try a bubble rig for spanish. I wouldn't use real heavy wire leader for spanish. Something around 12 pound wire.I hope this helps and good luck.

Locals are pretty quiet the past couple of days. The often send new folks to J&M tackle. You can buy a couple of pre tied wire leaders with a swivel and a treble hook for $5. Don't bring braided line because it cuts mono when you start getting crossed up. Get a sabiki or ribbon to catch live bait and you will be prepared. There are hundreds of good posts on this topic so read up and then watch the locals when you arrive.

I like using a basic gold spoon with heavy mono leader or some light surfstrand and a swivel for Spanish. If you'll go to J&M and get some Looney Jigs the guy that makes them works there and will tell you exactly how to fish them and will help with other lures that work good. His name is Terry.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
